Why can't I trade options on Robinhood anymore?

My Robinhood account allowed me to trade options before, but now it is not working. I get a message saying I’m not approved when I try.

I can trade stocks, but the options feature just stopped. Did they change their rules, or did I do something wrong?

When I overtraded SPY options, I faced the same issue. My account fell below the required balance, and they cut off my options trading without warning. I realized it when I attempted a trade.

Make sure to review your recent account balance and any significant losses.

Robinhood removes options access if your account falls below their equity requirements or if they notice risky trading behavior. Start by checking your balance and recent trades. They perform random reviews and can downgrade your access without notice. Look at your account settings as you might have been downgraded to level 1 or restricted completely. You can reapply, but they are stricter the second time.

Could be margin changes or you’ve hit pattern day trader rules.

Check for PDT violations. Ensure your equity is above $2000. Robinhood restricts options access if requirements aren’t met. Contact support for details.

Options trading approval can change due to your trading history. Robinhood may have updated their policies or adjusted your access after recent performance. Review your options settings to see your current level. Reapplying through the app is possible, but be prepared for a wait.
