exercise price vs strike price: is there a difference

Been trading options for a few months now and keep seeing both terms used everywhere. Some people say exercise price, others say strike price.

Are these actually the same thing or is there some difference I’m missing? Getting confused when reading different trading materials.

They are interchangeable terms. Exercise price is used in contracts. Traders refer to it as strike price. No difference in meaning.

They are the same. Exercise price and strike price mean the same thing in options trading.

I made this mistake with Apple options early in my trading journey. I misread the contract and missed a big opportunity.

Different platforms may use different terms, but it is all about the price to exercise your option.

They’re the same thing - just different words for the identical concept. Pretty common confusion when starting out since educational stuff uses both terms randomly.

It’s mostly about context. Official docs usually say “exercise price” while trading platforms and forums stick with “strike price.”

Once you know they mean the exact same thing, everything clicks and different sources make way more sense.

No difference at all. I lost $50 on EURUSD overthinking this same question.

Same thing. Exercise price shows up in formal contracts, strike price is what traders say. Both mean the price you pay when you exercise your option. Don’t overthink it - they’re interchangeable. Focus on how this price affects your profit instead of worrying about terminology.
